Our book discussion group got together Monday this week to discuss “Away” by Amy Bloom. The main character, Lillian, immigrates to the United States from Russia after her family is slaughtered. As winter fades to spring the number of daylight hours increases and, although I have certainly noticed earlier sunrises and later sunsets I was surprised to see that the number of daylight hours is almost 14!
