Characters of Ecuador – Javier

Pam/ January 7, 2012/ Travel

Well practiced in his sales speech, Javier sells tours for Palo Santos. He’s 31, rides a motorcycle in town and literally seems to know everyone. The first time we met, he sold me on the tour and also recommended Los Frailes. He knows the ropes and has a charm about him. Or maybe it’s confidence. Between the two of us, we can have a bit of a conversation. He knows just enough English and I know barely enough Spanish.

Yesterday I was at lunch and he spotted me there, zooming up on his motorcycle to see if I had been able to arrange a ride with Johnny to Los Frailes. Today, after the island tour, he found me on the beach. And, tonight, while I was sitting in the hotel lobby, poof, there he was, arranging a tour for some other guests at the hotel.

I had my computer with me, since the lobby is the only place to get wifi, and I couldn’t remember a Spanish word so I pulled up google translate. Then he typed in some Spanish that translated to “I like you”. We also found him on Facebook so I could friend him. We have a date tomorrow for ceviche, which has been recommended to me. Javier knows the best place in town for it (of course).
