Hiro was one of our island guides today. While sitting next to me on the boat ride to the island I notice how small his feet were. In fact, I put my foot right up to his and they were about the same size. Later, on the island, we were walking to the beach together and I would guess I was almost a head taller than he is. About 45 minutes into the ride he said (in Spanish) \u0093Let\u0092s practice your Spanish\u0094. So we conversed a little bit back and forth, him helping and correcting me. He was tireless in his leading the hike today. As we wound our way on top the island and up the hills, I thought, \u0093Hiro is some sort of Ecuadorian Sherpa\u0094.
