The Dexter-Ann Arbor race is a big deal here with a LOT of runners. I&#8217;m a walker, not a fast one, and not competitive when it comes to physical activity. My walk goal for May was to walk 30 miles. And, with just two days left I&#8217;m shy about four miles. I decided that this weekend I&#8217;d get out and walk 3.1 miles to see if I could do it. Both last night and this morning I managed to log 3.17 and 3.48 respectively. <\/p>\n<p>Today, my iPod quit at the halfway point so I did the walk home without that World Music beat I choose to walk to. On that slow walk back I was thinking about the phrase &#8220;slow and steady wins the race&#8221;. Not in a million years will I win a race, slow or otherwise. It seems like a more appropriate sentiment would be &#8220;slow and steady fosters patience&#8221;. Or, &#8220;slow and steady eventually gets you there.&#8221; Or, &#8220;slow and steady cultivate perseverance&#8221;.
